What comes to mind when you hear the word "revitalization?" Storefronts, streetscape, green spaces.... what about volunteers? Volunteers are the single most important ingredient in revitalization but are often overlooked by the general public.

People volunteer for many different reasons, and when people volunteer for the Clearfield Revitalization Corporation, it is a true representation of the passion and spirit that they have for their community. They believe that Clearfield has the opportunity to be a better place to live, to work and to raise a family. The Main Street approach is community-based which means the community must get on board in order for revitalization to be successful.

The state of Pennsylvania values each volunteer hour at the rate of $19.61/hour. In 2010, the CRC had 2,921 volunteer hours which shows as an in-kind investment of over $57k. It is important for the CRC to keep track of volunteer hours as we can use this as a match for grant money. If a certain grant comes up that requires a match, the state is generally more willing to give priority to those who show another form of investment.

Together as a community, we all benefit from the improvements and revitalization of downtown. We're identifying new options, strengthening the existing economic base, enhancing the apearance of the downtown and preserving historic commercial properties. We're also marketing downtown assets, developing investment, and defining a planned incremental strategy designed to
strengthen the downtown.

There is a place for you with the CRC. Everyone has a unique gifts and talents, and the CRC allow you to express your passion for the betterment of the community, whether that may be event planning, art, planting, or leadership... to name just a few. Whether you have a lot of free time or just a little, there are volunteer opportunities for those of the older generation and those of the younger generation.
